The Bateleurs – “A Light In The Darkness”
The Bateleurs just put out their second album “A Light In The Darkness” and these guys from Portugal are building on the buzz from their first record “The Sun In The Tenth House“. The band went through a lineup shift when guitarist Marco Reis left and Ricardo Galrao stepped in, and you can hear how his guitar work changes things up across these new songs.
The recording process for this one happened in January and February this year, and they actually used three different studios to nail specific sounds they were after. Bassist Ricardo Dikk took care of the mix, and get this: they recorded everything without any digital fixing or editing tools. No pitch correction, no timing adjustments, just the band playing live and capturing that moment. It gives the album this unpolished but powerful feel that’s hard to find nowadays.
Tracks like “Widow Queen”, “For All To See”, “Dancing On A String”, “Never Back Down”, and “The Lighthouse” are the real highlights here. And I’m pretty sure you will enjoy them.
The band opened for Dirty Honey in Lisbon not too long ago and got great responses, so if you dig this album, go back and listen to their other stuff. Follow them on social media so you don’t miss their next releases.
