The Tin Can Collective – “The Thrill Is Gone And I Can’t Get It Back”
The Tin Can Collective, an indie-emo-punk band from Long Island, put out their fifth album The Thrill Is Gone And I Can’t Get It Back on September 12. The group started as John Warren’s solo project and now includes his sister Jess, drummer Cass Kadow, and bassist Paul Motisi. You can tell they’ve grown together over time in how naturally they play off each other.
They recorded this one live in a living room, and it sounds like it. The album keeps that open, unfiltered energy that’s missing from a lot of modern records. Producers Will Forthman and Jay Carrie from Dinos in Vietnam Productions kept things honest, and Jack Shirley’s mix keeps the band’s character front and center without sanding off the edges. “Trouble” caught my attention right away. It’s about reaching a point where wild years catch up to you and you start facing the stories you’ve built along the way. Nothing about it feels staged or overly dramatic, it just sounds like someone looking back and being real about it.
If you like albums that come from a genuine place, give this one a listen. Follow The Tin Can Collective online to keep up with what they release through the rest of 2025.
