Red Skies Dawning – “Shipwrecked”

Red Skies Dawning impressed me with their debut single “Shipwrecked”, and it’s a solid start. The band, led by Maryland’s Chris Aleshire, grew out of his earlier project Red Skies Mourning. This time, the music hits harder, mixing the emotion of his past work with a tougher, modern rock edge, it’s clear Chris is back where he belongs, pulling from his early days in punk and hardcore but shaping it into something fresh and confident.

“Shipwrecked” talks about loss and rebuilding after things fall apart. It began as a more emotional pop song, but with producers Chris Dawson and Jimmie Beattie stepping in, it was rebuilt into something heavier and more direct. The song is about that moment when everything crashes down, but you still manage to find your footing again. It’s honest and easy to connect with. I really like how it wasn’t put together in a fancy studio. Chris re-recorded vocals at a home setup, and that gives it a real, grounded vibe even with the big rock sound behind it. The mix of grit and polish fits the story of the song perfectly.

“Shipwrecked” is a strong start for Red Skies Dawning. Give it a listen, check out their upcoming releases, and follow the band on social media to keep up with what’s next.
