Dogs Don’t Die – “The Cold”

Bristol four-piece Dogs Don’t Die’s debut single “The Cold” is wonderful, and I love it. It’s loud, messy in the best way, and confident. From the first second, that looping, hypnotic guitar riff locks you in, and before you know it, the whole thing has exploded into this chaotic mix of pounding drums and distortion that feels like it’s on the edge of falling apart but never actually does. There’s control in the madness, which makes it all the more gripping.

What caught my attention most is how personal it comes across, the song digs into ego and possessiveness but not in a preachy way, it’s like they’re calling themselves out. The lyrics are fragmented, almost like pieces of thought blurted out in the middle of an argument, and that rawness sticks with you. It’s rare for a first single to feel this sure of itself without trying too hard, but “The Cold” does exactly that.

Dogs Don’t Die might be just starting out, but they’re already making noise worth hearing. If you’re into music that’s unfiltered and hits with a real punch, keep an eye on them and definitely follow Dogs Don’t Die on social media so you don’t miss what they drop next in 2025.
