The Dobermans – “Nothing On The Internet”

The Dobermans’ seventh full-length album, “Nothing On The Internet”, lands with sharp focus and a refusal to filter its perspective. Led by Chris Doberman, the Milwaukee-based project fuses the punch of early Buzzcocks with the melodic pull of The Smiths, Paul McCartney, and They Might Be Giants, while occasionally touching the atmospheric side of Sigur Rós. Every track was written by Chris and recorded in his home studio, using instruments he built himself.

Released on July 29, 2025, it’s a set that doesn’t lean on current cultural crutches, opting instead for a direct interpretation of gaslighting, coercion, and misinformation in all their subtle and blunt forms. Among the highlights, “Dead Eyed Smile” strikes with quick precision, while the title track “Nothing On The Internet” serves as a thematic anchor, distilling the album’s core into one sharp statement. It’s not easy to pick just one favorite song, but the one that grabbed my attention is “Bottle Boys”.
