Ken Woods and The Old Blue Gang – “Lily White”

Hey everyone! I’m a big fan of the new song from Ken Woods and The Old Blue Gang, titled “Lily White”. This song tackles the dark legend of Chinese miners who may have been murdered at Oregon’s Lily White Gold Mine back in the 1880s. Ken Woods and The Old Blue Gang doesn’t give you answers; he asks the right questions in his songs. Impressive, is the only word I can describe the track with. Let’s not forget the vocals, the most impressive element in the track that makes it more powerful and easy to follow.

The way the instruments are used is just beautiful, the song has fingerpicked guitar, gentle percussion, and acoustic bass which together create a perfect atmosphere for the ghostly lyrics. And if you enjoyed this track, you definitely need to check “Ride the Rails” and “Sundown Town”.

This song proves that American roots music can still handle tough subjects with elegance and strength and I’m excited to see what Ken Woods and The Old Blue Gang have in store for us for the rest of 2025, so make sure to follow them on social media to keep up.
