WØLFFE – “Holiday From My Mind”
Hope you’re having a nice Saturday night! WØLFFE is a British singer-songwriter and producer, and “Holiday From My Mind” gave me a clear reason to pay more attention to what she’s doing. After reading about the single and the EP it comes from, I came away with the sense that she has a very specific point of view, and that really matters when so many artists blur together. It’s safe to say it’s one of my favorite tracks of the month.
I liked hearing that the Yuck EP was largely written and produced by WØLFFE herself during a very difficult stretch in her life. Knowing that adds context to this release and makes it easier to connect with where she was coming from at the time. It also says a lot about her drive, because she kept creating while dealing with something heavy. Another thing that stuck with me is how many different influences shape her work, from literature and film to poetry and more experimental ideas. That mix gives her music a strong identity without making it seem forced. She also already has a solid track record, with touring alongside Lauren Mayberry, sold out London shows, music in film and television, and a growing list of credits that show she has been putting in serious work.
“Holiday From My Mind” made me want to check out more from WØLFFE, and I think readers should do the same and spend some time with her other releases. Follow WØLFFE on social media too, so you can keep up with new music.
