The Trusted – “Spin”

The Trusted release their new single “Spin”, and it’s a fast, sharp reminder of why this band keeps building momentum. The Southend four-piece describe it as a 100mph pop track, and that pace is clear straight away.

“Spin” revolves around the need to matter and the need to feel real. That idea gives the track its drive. There’s no hiding behind vague lines or overcomplicated ideas. It’s open, direct, and easy to connect with, and you can sense that push in the build toward the middle eight, and when the chorus lands, it’s made for shouting along without even thinking about it. The ending caught me off guard in the best way. It cuts off suddenly, almost like someone pulled the plug mid-moment, and it makes you want to start it again straight away. That choice works because the song earns it.

After a live session on Jo Whiley’s Radio 2 show and more than 300 gigs behind them, The Trusted sound like a band that knows what they’re doing. “Spin” keeps that momentum going without overreaching. If this is the direction they’re heading in, it’s worth paying attention. Go follow The Trusted on social media and keep up with what they’ve got coming this year.
