The Music Of Sound – “Ebbw Vale”

The Music Of Sound has a fascinating setup, pairing a veteran composer with young Gen Z musicians, and their single Ebbw Vale shows exactly why their audience is growing so fast. Released on Monochrome Motif Records, the track leans into the darker, dreamier sound they have been developing since late last year.

There are no guitars on this track. Instead, Neil March’s piano and programming pair up with Elena Trent’s flute, creating a great backdrop for Sherin’s pure voice and unique accent. The writing looks at the chaos and nastiness in the modern political world, placing those frustrations right inside the context of a Welsh Valleys town with a unique socio-political history. It gives the track a lot of nuance and emotional depth. Anya Sofia is back on keyboards and backing vocals too, which helps create these incredible multi-tracked harmonies that feel completely natural.

It is a great example of a band focusing on atmosphere rather than copying what everyone else is doing, and it makes sense why fifteen percent of their listeners are saving their tracks straight to personal playlists. You should check out The Music Of Sound on social media and follow them to see what else they release this year.
