The Dodo Appreciation Society – “Animal Frequencies”

The Dodo Appreciation Society’s new album is rich, fun, and packed with personality. I’m pretty sure you will love it as much as I did. Formed by Neil Saunders and Sam Sherwood back in 2022, the Northampton-based duo poured everything into this release, and you can hear that bond in every track. “Animal Frequencies” is my new favorite release of the week.
What I appreciate the most is how varied the album is, and it will transport you to the band’s world. “The Sex Life of a Slug” has this heavy, almost doomy pulse to it, while “Shrimp” swings in with a playful honky tonk vibe that made me grin the first time I heard it. Then there’s “Prison For A Frog”, which leans into a country feel, and “Wasp In The Bedroom”, which is pure, organized chaos in the best way. It’s obvious they had fun making this, and that energy comes through loud and clear. It’s hard to pick just one favorite track of the album, but the one that grabbed my attention is “Octopus”.
Give “Animal Frequencies” a spin, and follow The Dodo Appreciation Society on social media, they’ve got more coming in 2025, and I’m definitely sticking around for it.
