Terry Breakman – “Boom Boom”
It is not very often you find a song written specifically for Independence Day, but Terry Breakman put out a track that fills that gap perfectly. It is a single titled “Boom Boom“, performed by the Breakman Holiday Singers, and it fits right into a summer celebration.
The whole thing plays out like the soundtrack to a backyard barbecue. It has a great mix of nostalgic Americana and contemporary production, making it feel instantly familiar. Ben Flanagan, Adam Yas, and Heidi Flanagan take the lead on vocals, and their performance brings a real sense of national pride and unity to the front. There is a line in there about how red and blue don’t always mix well right now, but the song quickly shifts to common ground, reminding everyone that we are all under the same colors at the end of the day, and it is an uplifting message that feels timely without being preachy.
The best part about the release is what is happening behind the scenes. Terry is donating all of his artist proceeds from the track to Homes For Our Troops, a nonprofit that builds custom homes for severely injured post-9/11 veterans. Knowing that singing along to a summer track helps veterans rebuild their lives gives the music a lot of purpose.
