Slyrydes – “One Is Too Many”
Slyrydes have delivered another hit with “One Is Too Many”. The Galway group continues to show why they earned so much critical acclaim after their initial run of singles between 2018 and 2021, along with praise from Fontaines DC and Paul McCloone. Following their debut album “What Happens If You Get Happy?”, released through Blowtorch Records in July 2025, this single brings a fresh perspective to their catalog.
Longtime friend and Darklands recording studio owner Dan Doherty produced and engineered the track. Having worked with artists like Denzel Curry and Hope Sandoval, Dan officially joined the band in 2025, and his creative ideas shine right here. Rather than writing together in one room, each member went into the Dublin studio individually to build their parts. That unique process highlights the real introspection tied to recovery. Slyrydes have always spoken with conviction about real issues, particularly the mental health crisis in Ireland. Having lived through addiction, the members share an open narrative about carving out a new path through recovery and therapy informed dynamics.
The artwork perfectly matches the atmosphere of the single. It shows a stark black and white photo of a quiet railway platform late at night, lit by bright overhead lights and the lonely train station view fits the introspective tone of the music exceptionally well.
Personally, I completely love this release, and it stands out as a genuine achievement for the group. If you are new to their catalog, I highly recommend checking out their previous releases to hear how their sound has evolved over the years.
Make sure to follow Slyrydes on social media and streaming platforms right now so you do not miss any of their new releases as they continue preparing their second album throughout the rest of this year. They are an incredible group of musicians who consistently put true heart into every project, and staying connected with their journey is going to be incredibly rewarding for anyone who appreciates real, honest music.
