Seán R. McLaughlin & The Wind-Up Crows – “Union Street”
Seán R. McLaughlin & The Wind-Up Crows released an impressive single, “Union Street”, through Stitch Records. It’s the first preview of their upcoming second album, and it comes across as honest and direct. It’s safe to say it’s my favorite track of the day.
The song started with an ugly street corner punch in Aberdeen, but it grows into something broader. Rather than focusing on that one moment, it looks at ideas of belonging, moving on, and the small routines that make a place feel like home. At under four minutes, the track moves from a gentle opening into a stormier push, showing how much ground the band can cover without dragging things out. This release also brings in a new face, drummer Sandy Batchelor, who joins McLaughlin, co-producer Andy Monaghan of Frightened Rabbit, and guest vocalist Tristan Dolce. The combination gives the song a fuller shape while still sounding like the band at its core.
The group chose not to release “Union Street” on Spotify, but you’ll find it on Bandcamp, Apple Music, and YouTube. Make sure to follow Seán R. McLaughlin & The Wind-Up Crows on social media to keep up with their new music through the rest of 2025.
