SangLien – “NorthSide”

SangLien’s new EP “NorthSide” feels like the kind of project that doesn’t really ask for permission; it just pulls you in. The sound design is slick but never sterile, and he clearly enjoys playing in that gray area between genres. You can hear pieces of trip-hop, liquid bass, UKG, and a whole lot of late-night energy stitched together in a way that keeps each track unpredictable but still cohesive.
It’s the kind of EP that gives you something to nod to, but also holds your attention if you’re really listening. There’s a clear ear for melody here, but the percussion hits just as hard, especially when he leans into heavier grooves. The result is music that feels lived-in, gritty in all the right ways, and still super polished.
Trust me, guys, you will fall in love with this release, and it’s hard to pick just one favorite track, but my favorites are “FunkStep” and “Flow This Way”. That kind of boldness makes “NorthSide” a way more memorable listen. Whether it’s playing in your headphones or slamming through a festival speaker stack, this is the kind of release that sticks.
SangLien is clearly stepping into a bigger spotlight this year, and if “NorthSide” is any hint of what’s to come, it’s worth paying attention. Keep up with him on socials to catch new music, upcoming shows, and everything else he’s got planned for the rest of 2025.
