S J Denney – “Weather the Storm”

S J Denney’s latest track ‘Weather the Storm’ is absolutely stunning and easy to follow. If you’re a fan of 90s grunge classics, you’re in for a serious treat. Denney’s first venture into grunge territory shows he’s done his homework, channeling the spirit of Nirvana’s “In Utero” with those powerful Dave Grohl-style drums that hit you right in the chest.

The megaphone-filtered vocals in the verses were what really caught my attention, a clever nod to early Stone Temple Pilots that adds this awesome vintage quality. And just when you think you’ve got the song figured out, Denney throws in a harpsichord! That unexpected Yes/Rick Wakeman influence takes the track to a whole new level. Because he releases great music, this is not the first time we covered him and surely it’s not the last time.

I can’t get enough of this track and S J Denney is making some of the most interesting rock music coming out of the UK right now, mixing classic influences with his own unique touch in a way that is completely fresh, so make sure to follow the talented artist on social media to keep up to date with what is sure to be a busy year of releases in the rest of 2025.
