PlanG – “Quite Some Feelin'”
PlanG, the project of Padraic Lang from Midleton, Ireland, has turned what started as a loose acoustic jam into a proper melodic rock track, and the patience behind that process is audible in the finished recording.
The song captures the buzz of playing a Friday night gig in a small town, that particular mix of nerves and joy when the crowd is with you and the music is clicking, and it’s a specific feeling, and the track earns it. The electric and acoustic lead guitar work is a real highlight. The riffs do their job without being showy, they move the song forward and give it a lived-in energy that a more polished production might have flattened out.
The vocal pairing between Lang and Sam Guisinger is another strong point. Her voice blends quietly with his for most of the song, and then in the final chorus it opens up in a way that genuinely shifts the whole track, and it’s one of those moments where you can tell the arrangement has been building toward something the whole time.
Producer George Micansky and Lang recorded this over multiple sessions at FrenchQuarter Studios in Cork, and it’s clear they were not in a hurry. The piano and keyboard sit well inside the mix without crowding the guitars, and the overall sound has room to breathe.
This is a solid release, and the storytelling is grounded enough to hold up on repeated listens. It’s worth going back to PlanG’s earlier work on Bandcamp and Spotify to get a fuller picture of where this project has been. And if you want to keep up with new music, follow PlanG now because more is clearly on the way this year.
