Open Horizon Records – “Let The Leaves Fall”
“Let the Leaves Fall” by Open Horizon Records brings to mind a calm, crisp autumn afternoon with plenty of simple warmth and listening to the track makes you think of mist over a quiet river, walking a dog through fading sunlight, or coming back home to a warm cup of tea near a fire as the days get shorter. It reflects those quiet, peaceful moments when everything outdoors slows down and turns comfortable and still.
Writing simple poems during recovery from a long illness starting in 2010 eventually grew into writing songs, and turning those original poems into finished recordings creates a very genuine feeling. Adding choruses and smoothing the words so they move easily alongside the sound works out really well. You can hear the careful attention to rhythm that made those words easy to read out loud in the first place. The track moves at a gentle pace, giving the words plenty of room to rest and land.
The picture on the front fits the sound side of things completely. Looking at the cover artwork uploaded with the release, the single brown maple leaf sitting right in the middle of a plain, textured background gives off the exact same peaceful feeling as the music itself. It looks simple, clean, and real, showing the soft mood of the track before the first note even begins.
Sharing a true personal voice about life, love, loss, and the planet is clearly what drives this whole project, and that real feeling shows up in every single line. It is an easy song to sit with, offering a short break into a lighter, quieter head space whenever the real world gets too busy.
