Ndidi O – “It’s About Time”

Hey guys! Ndidi O just released a new album titled “It’s About Time”, arriving at an important moment in her career with three nominations at the 2026 Canadian Blues Music Awards. Ndidi Onukwulu has already released several albums and has spent years building her place in blues, folk and soul, and this record shows an artist writing from a place of experience and honesty.

The album was recorded in County Cork, Ireland, with local Irish musicians and longtime collaborator Steve Dawson on guitar. The group keeps the arrangements simple and natural, which gives Ndidi’s voice plenty of space. Her delivery stays front and center the entire time, and that choice works well because her voice carries a lot of character and emotion.

A lot of the album looks at aging, migration, belonging and resistance, and those ideas shape several of the songs. “Old Crone” speaks directly about ageism and the way society often overlooks older women, while “Wanderer” reflects a life shaped by constant movement and the search for a place to settle. “Come On Home” stands out as a heartfelt song about friendship and loyalty, written for someone very close to her.

“Young One”, the first Irish single from the album, reflects on the distance between youth and the person we grow into later in life, touching on an experience many women rarely hear discussed in music. If you enjoy thoughtful songwriting, take some time to check out other releases by Ndidi O as well. And make sure you follow her on social media to stay updated on new music and future releases.
