MUFASA RKG – “VULTURE RECIPES”
MUFASA RKG’s new EP “VULTURE RECIPES” is a solid addition to the underground hip-hop scene, and it’s clear this artist knows exactly what they’re doing. Coming out of New England, MUFASA RKG has put together a project that feels both intentional and raw, drawing from influences like Roc Marciano, Westside Gunn, Aesop Rock, and MF DOOM without trying to copy any of them.
The instrumental choices here are really impressive, ranging from eerie, dark, lo-fi drumless beats to classic boom bap. Tracks like “GIBLETS” and “PRICE RITE” highlight this range perfectly and give the project a lot of replay value. The variety is strong, but it never sounds disconnected or random.
This project gets personal. MUFASA RKG pulls from actual life experiences and social commentary, adding an authentic edge to the whole EP and this is why I love it. The recordings were done at Bucket Fresh Studios using Fruity Loops, and you can hear the DIY spirit come across clearly. Each track was treated like its own art piece.
The EP also serves as a response to oversaturation and culture vultures in hip-hop, which is refreshing to hear. More music is coming in December with NARDESIGNS and Ron G, so make sure to follow MUFASA RKG on social media to catch that release and whatever else is coming in the rest of 2025.
