Moon Construction Kit – “Down the West Coast”

This week, I discovered the new single Down the West Coast by Moon Construction Kit and it is a genuinely great listen. The track was released just a couple of days ago with a beautiful blend of soft flutes and distant guitars that immediately hooks you in. It builds up a wonderful, lush atmosphere that feels like a warm journey through vintage sounds.

Olivier Cornu, the brilliant creative mind based in Lausanne behind this project, really showcases his talents here as a writer and multi-instrumentalist. The talented artist manages to weave together psychedelic folk elements with rich baroque harmonies in a way that feels incredibly natural. The energy increases as the song moves forward, bringing in a huge wave of layers and a captivating choir that takes the instrumentation to another level. Then it gently winds back down to the peaceful wind and string sounds from the beginning. It perfectly captures a sun-drenched indie rock and chamber pop structure with 1950s inspired woodwinds.

Honestly, this is a fantastic piece of music that completely draws you into its hypnotic world and you should absolutely check out the previous releases from Moon Construction Kit to see how the project has evolved since the 2022 debut.
