Mike Masser – “5”

Mike Masser is back, and “5” hits hard, after spending a few years out of the spotlight, he’s returned with something that doesn’t feel like a comeback, it feels like a release. This record’s loud, emotional, and sounds like it’s been waiting to erupt.
Right away, you can tell he’s not just picking up where he left off. The energy here is different, sharper, heavier, more intense. It’s not polished for the sake of it, and that’s the best part. You get the sense he made this album because he had to, not because he thought it was time. There’s a real frustration in the sound, like he’s been holding a lot in and this is how it comes out.
Two tracks that really stood out for me are “No Sin” and “Run”, both hit that perfect mix of heavy and honest, loud enough to shake you up, but grounded in something real. They don’t feel like they’re trying to be singles or fan favorites, they just hit.
If you’re into hard rock that doesn’t hold back or smooth out the edges, “5” is worth a listen. Mike Masser sounds like he’s got more to say, and after this, I’m definitely keeping an eye on what he drops next. Follow him on social media to catch what’s coming later this year.
