Mental Gymnast – “Mental Gymnast”

This five-song release gets straight to the point. Running under seven minutes total, “Mental Gymnast” delivers a direct punch of energetic punk that hits hard and vanishes before you even think about pausing.

The EP features “Romance Novels,” “I Want to Believe,” “Stay Warm,” “The Lowest Bar,” and “In4u.” Across this quick run of tracks, the project keeps the momentum rolling forward at a relentless speed. The writing feels honest, grounding its heavy energy in a clear message of staying kind and sincere in a difficult world without falling into empty cynicism or cruelty. It serves as a call for sincerity, even as it flirts with nihilism along the way.

The whole project feels cohesive, capturing the spirit of a group locked into the exact same wavelength from start to finish and it’s one of my favorite releases of the month. Despite writing, recording, and releasing this music together across different locations, the band members have actually never all been in the same room together yet. That shared connection comes through clearly in every single track, making the short runtime feel like a unified statement rather than just a collection of separate songs.

Every track knows exactly what it wants to do and accomplishes it fast. By keeping things brief, the band cuts out any potential filler and delivers an impactful batch of songs that leaves a lasting impression.

Personally, I genuinely love “Mental Gymnast”. The artist created a true masterpiece here, turning a brief five-track run into an unforgettable experience that you will want to replay immediately. You should definitely check out the previous releases from Mental Gymnast to see where this incredible sound came from.
