Mark Moule – “Eyes of Izzy”
Mark Moule has a great way of telling stories through his music, and his new single “Eyes of Izzy” is a really interesting shift for him. He is a songwriter based out of Busselton, Australia, though he is originally from Birmingham. Usually, his tracks are based entirely on his own life, like his time working remote mine sites or raising his kids as a single dad. This time around, he decided to write about someone else entirely, which is a first for him.
The track follows the life of Izzy Orlof, a pioneering photographer who brought the very first camera to Western Australia and eventually settled down in Fremantle. Even though the track focuses on historical legacy, Mark was going through a tough, unsettled period when he wrote it, and you can tell he poured those heavy personal emotions right into the songwriting anyway.
There is a cool story behind the recording, too. It was actually tracked a decade ago in a modest home studio in Fremantle as a university collaboration with Paul Curtis. They captured something special right away. In fact, they nailed it on the very first take, and that is exactly what you hear on the final release. After sitting on a shelf gathering dust for ten years, it is great that it is finally out in the world.
If you want to keep up with his music, make sure to follow him on his social media pages so you can see where he is playing around the south west and catch his new projects later this year.
