Liv Dawn – “The Mountains Are Calling”

Scottish singer-songwriter Liv Dawn recently released her new EP Hopeful Wandering, and one of the standout tracks for me is The Mountains Are Calling. The whole EP blends folk, pop, soft rock, and country in a way that feels natural for her, and this track really brings that mix to life while still staying grounded in her style.

She uses the image of rugged mountains to reflect the ups and downs that come with moving through life, and it works well. There’s a steady, grounded feeling in the way the track unfolds—something about it makes you want to take a deep breath and reset. I appreciated that it doesn’t try to sound bigger than it needs to; it sounds full and layered but still personal, which is likely thanks to the full band recorded with her at Chem19 Studios.

The acoustic guitar and piano blend smoothly, and there’s an energy that builds without overwhelming the message. I think that balance is what makes it feel so genuine. It’s hopeful without being overly polished or distant, and that matches the tone she’s going for across the whole EP.

If you haven’t heard her music before, this single is a solid intro. And if you’ve been following her for a while, you’ll probably notice how her sound is expanding. Definitely check out her other releases and give her a follow on socials to keep up with what’s coming next.
