Kurly x Horizon x Together We Are – “Echoes”

Three Midlands creatives, Kurly, Horizon, and Together We Are, teamed up on a new track called “Echoes” that gets you thinking about how our lives are changing. It mixes spoken word with drum and bass to look at how we went from old-school, physical experiences to a world completely dominated by screens.

The track digs into childhood memories from before social media, bringing up stuff like VHS tapes, handwritten letters, retro games, and Saturday-morning cartoons. They even pack in nods to things like Transformers, Thunderbirds, Care Bears, and The Goonies. It brings a massive wave of nostalgia, but it isn’t just about missing the past.

Kurly adds his performance poetry background to the song, while producer Horizon handles the electronic side. Songwriting duo John and Cat Sambrook, who make up Together We Are, shape the rest of the sound. Cat’s haunting vocal line, where she repeats that it was easier then, really anchors the whole piece. The track questions if we are losing real connection while trying to keep up with notifications, digital footprints, and artificial intelligence. It feels less like a lecture about screen fatigue and more like an open invitation to find a better balance between real life and our devices.

It is well worth checking out if you want to hear something with actual substance. Go follow Kurly, Horizon, and Together We Are on social media to keep up with their new releases this year.
