Kevin Driscoll – “Black It Out”

Kevin Driscoll’s “Black It Out” is wonderful and I love it, is a strong opener that doesn’t try to fit into anyone else’s mold. It hits like a quiet punch, sharp, unfiltered, and surprisingly grounded. There’s an honesty here that feels earned, not engineered. You can hear the experience behind the choices, it’s not overloaded, not dressed up in tricks, just straight-up feeling, and that’s rare.
The synth solo from Jeremiah Johnson cuts in at just the right moment, giving the track some real teeth without hijacking the vibe. It’s clear they weren’t chasing perfection, they were chasing the right kind of wrong. If I can describe the track in one word: Impressive. And about the artwork, there’s something about that swirling, layered texture that reflects the disorientation of heartbreak without being too on the nose, you don’t need to get it to feel it.
If you haven’t already, follow Kevin Driscoll on social media to stay in the loop on future releases. There’s more coming in 2025, and if this first track is any sign, it’s worth paying attention.
