Joho – “numbness is exhausting”
Joho is back with numbness is exhausting, his tenth studio album, and I honestly came away thinking this is the kind of release that says a lot about where he is right now. This album follows the emotional mess that comes after losing someone, and that already makes it easy to connect with on a human level.
I really love the way the record seems to move step by step, rather than sitting in one place the whole time. It starts in reflection, goes into regret, digs deeper into self-examination, then reaches acceptance by the end and that kind of structure makes me want to hear the full thing in order, especially with songs like Because, Amore, Valentine, and Iron Giant helping shape that path. But my favorite is Pocket Holy Priest.
I’m also into the fact that Joho made this with 4d3n again, with both of them involved across every track. Knowing Joho also had production involvement across the record makes it sound even more personal. The mix of alternative hip-hop, pop-R&B, alternative elements, jazzy grooves, and ballad moments gives the album a lot of room to move while still sounding approachable for new listeners.
For me, this sounds like a strong project and a good reason to dig into more of Joho’s other releases too. Follow Joho on social media to keep up with new music and future updates.
