John Lebanon – “Disco Boi Beirut”
John Lebanon is bringing back an older track with a new twist. “Disco Boi Beirut”, was released on December 19, takes a song he first put together in 2017 and gives it more energy and a closer tie to where he’s from. The idea started in New York, but this version is more connected to Beirut, with personal touches that come through clearly.
The core team is still in place. Vocals from Isabelle Malhame, mixing and mastering by Matthew Hatch and John himself, and lyrics by Papa Sway and Michel Jeha. The mix of English and Arabic adds a natural rhythm, and there’s a real sense of familiarity in the way it’s all put together. If you visited Lebanon before, you will enjoy this track more.
Some of the original recordings from a studio in Providence were brought back in, along with new parts tracked in Boston. That combo gives it a relaxed, lived-in sound. It’s not trying to be anything other than what it is. It reflects where John’s been and what matters to him.
