Joe Hodgson – “Fields Of Redemption (The movie)”
Joe Hodgson’s Fields Of Redemption (The Movie) is a bold move, and it really works. He’s taken his latest album and built a full film around it, using the guitar as the lead voice, just music and visuals telling the story. And it’s not some artsy clip montage either, it actually has a storyline, which makes it easy to get pulled into.
I just love how it mixes normal film scenes with AI-created ones, the regular footage gives you something familiar to latch onto, and then the AI stuff takes things to another level. It’s trippy without being over the top. The switch between the two styles feels intentional, not like it’s showing off.
The cast keeps it grounded, Emma Duffy’s really natural on screen, especially considering this is her first time acting. Hugo Nicolau brings a steady presence, and Joe jumps in too, which is cool to see since it’s his music shaping the whole thing, and the whole project feels thought-through and personal. If you love guitar-driven work or visual storytelling that doesn’t follow the usual playbook, this is worth watching and you will love it as much as I did. Keep an eye on Joe Hodgson’s socials to stay up to date with what else he’s got coming in 2025.
