Jo Millett – “It Hurts”

Jo Millett is a Norwich-based artist, released his incredible single “It Hurts” on 12th Dec 2025. The track was created with producer Tom Joy and arranger Alexander Carson, and it was clearly built to sound big and emotionally charged. From the moment I discovered this song, I was excited to share it with you.

The song looks at Jo’s relationship with their father, especially the years after their mother passed away when Jo was seven. Growing up in a house filled with shouting and tension leaves marks, and this track doesn’t pretend otherwise. What makes it heavy is the present-day reality. Their father has changed over time and their relationship is better now. That improvement should bring relief, but it also creates a strange kind of pain. It can be hard to speak about the past without sounding ungrateful, even when those early experiences still shape you. That conflict runs right through the heart of this song. It’s one of the best releases I’ve heard this week.
