Ivy League – “American Love”

Ivy League’s new track “American Love” hits different when you realize it’s been ten years in the making. This isn’t some overnight studio session, it’s a journey. From the moment the album landed on my radar, I knew I must share it with you.

I’m drawn in by how it explores the way our wounds can become almost sacred to us, defining our identities and redirecting our paths. It’s like Ivy League understands that sometimes we build shrines to our pain without realizing we’re doing it. And if I have to choose just one favorite track of the album, that will be super hard for me, but “Enouement” stands out the most in my opinion.

I’m particularly struck by how the track reflects the Japanese concept of kintsugi, repairing broken pottery with gold to highlight the cracks rather than hide them. “American Love” does exactly this musically, transforming past devastation into something more valuable than before.

I found myself hitting replay immediately after my first listen, catching new layers and meanings each time through. Do yourself a favor and follow Ivy League on social media to keep up with whatever they create next. After hearing “American Love”, I’m sure we shouldn’t have to wait another decade for their next release.
