Dorbi – “Bake Off”

Dorbi’s latest EP “Bake Off” is exactly the kind of wonderful project I live for as a music blogger. This 5-track takes the seemingly mundane topic of baking and transforms it into a sexy, playful, and genuinely innovative listening experience.

The production is professional, and this is what makes this release stand out. Things get deliciously unhinged with “Cake on Your Face”, which explores a very specific cake-related fetish with dark, thumping beats. By the time we hit “Galletita”, the EP shifts gears into Spanish reggaeton territory. The linguistic diversity throughout the project (Hebrew, English, and Spanish) adds layers of texture that keep the listening experience interesting despite its brief 9-minute runtime. “Cookie”, featuring Tokyo/Tel-Aviv rapper Tom Schneid, the collaboration feels natural and adds another dimension to the project’s baking metaphors.

The EP closes with the club-ready “Topless Bread Party”, a darkly euphoric track that somehow makes bread sound incredibly sexy. It’s the perfect nightcap to this strange, delightful musical pastry. Each track comes with its own colorful music video, directed by Dorbi himself and shot by Bruce Melan, adding visual flair to an already captivating project.

Following up on his 2024 debut EP “Bleeding Time”, Dorbi has clearly found his niche in creating concept-driven music that’s both playful and boundary-pushing. Make sure to follow Dorbi on social media, this is one musical baker whose career is definitely on the rise.
