Gloria – “End of the Race (YEH)”
GLORIA have been quietly building something interesting, and “End of the Race (YEH)” makes a strong case that the Manchester four-piece are ready for a bigger stage. It’s a rock track with real bite to it, the kind that doesn’t ease you in gently. You get hit with heavy guitar and bass riffs almost immediately, and the song keeps pulling the ground out from under you with passages that genuinely disorient in the best way possible.
The track is built around a split narration that works really well once you settle into it. The story it tells, falling for someone charming who turns out to be a predator using your trust against you, is a warning dressed up as a rock song. “End of the Race (YEH)” deserves a spot in your playlist.
Love, Hate & Despair is out now, and if the rest of the EP hits as this track does, it’s worth going through the whole thing. Also, another release from the band you need to check out, as “Anymore” and “Evergreen”.
If this is your first time hearing GLORIA, do yourself a favor and dig into their previous releases. You’ll get a better sense of how they’ve been building toward something like this. They’ve got more in the pipeline for the rest of the year, so follow the band and stay close.
