Ghost in the Willow – “Still Here”
Ghost in the Willow’s album “Still Here” was released just this month, and I’m pretty sure you will love it. The title is both a statement and an act of quiet defiance: the band has weathered personal loss, health issues and line‑up changes, yet they continue to create. Gil Rodriguez began the project as a solo acoustic outlet in 2017. Over time it evolved into a five‑piece ensemble, with Sean Harris on drums, Ryan King on bass, Zach Sealover on guitar and Sam Camacho providing violin and vocals. Ghost in the Willow is a must-follow band in 2026.
“Still Here” blends punk energy, alt‑rock melody and singer‑songwriter sensitivity. Rather than focusing on specific tragedies, the songs weave personal losses, isolation and the resolve to keep going. It’s shaped by the experiences of losing family members, undergoing a kidney transplant and navigating changes within the band. That emotional depth is palpable without becoming heavy‑handed.
The record was produced by Kyle McAulay and recorded in Phoenix and Los Angeles. And after listening to the album, you can’t just pick one favorite song, there are standouts like “Then He Kissed Me”, “Flick of the Wrist”, and “My Dad & I”. On stage, the band has expanded to a six or nine‑piece line‑up to match that scale. “Still Here” is not a victory lap but a portrait of persistence. Give the album a listen and follow Ghost in the Willow on social media for more updates this year.
