Forgotten Roads – “Scenes From A Revolution”
The progressive rock collective Forgotten Roads, coming out of Madison, New Jersey, has a new release that really demands a full listen. It is a massive 16-track album titled Scenes From A Revolution. The project spans 69 minutes and turns real family history from the Russian Revolution and World War II into a sweeping narrative about exile, survival, and political violence.
Gene Bohensky built the framework and wrote the lyrics, and while Nick Bohensky composed the music, created recurring motifs, and played a lot of the instruments. They teamed up with drummer Dave Wilson, who added intense rhythm and co-produced the record. Vocalists Kingston & Greystarr, Mark Nowak, and Jeff Bridi then shaped those backbones into finished songs with their melodies.
The music changes gears constantly, and it jumps between ambient electronica, heavy guitar rock, orchestration, metal, and math rock. They use Mellotron, Hammond organ, Moog, strings, horns, and military drumming to capture the instability of the era. The tracks cover intense history, including the death of Rasputin, Soviet repression, and forced labor under Nazi occupation. It balances dark, quiet moments with explosive instrumental sections that highlight human resilience.
It is an ambitious, collaborative record grounded in real emotional history. Make sure to follow Forgotten Roads on their social media channels to stay updated on their latest releases and news this year.
