EMPTY MACHINES – “Vicious Vulture”

Thomas Crawford, the Scottish artist who runs the Empty Machines project, put out a great single recently titled “Vicious Vulture”. Working out of his home studio in Glasgow, Thomas takes a fully independent DIY approach by writing, recording, and mixing everything himself. After the first listen, it will stick in your head all day.

This track keeps the brooding intensity he is known for, but it clearly heads into a fresh direction after two years of experimenting in his studio. The song blends moody guitar work with textured electronics, creating an atmospheric, cinematic sound that is both intimate and expansive. Guest vocalist Jodie Helena is on the track too, and her haunting voice fits perfectly, adding a dark, emotional layer that pulls you in. It’s one of those releases that you will find yourself listening to again and again.

You can feel the time and care put into the songwriting, making it a great continuation of his earlier work. It manages to be heavy and massive while remaining incredibly raw and personal. If you want to see where he takes his music next, go follow Empty Machines on social media to stay updated on his new releases later this year.
