Emily Pegram – “Paper Town”

Emily Pegram is an indie-pop artist from Vancouver who wrote, produced, recorded, and mastered her single “Paper Town” completely on her own. Doing all that work herself gives the track a grounded, personal feel from the start, and this is why I love it in the first place.

The song is about the gap between what we want to see and what is real. It digs into how much it hurts to let go of something that was never truly there to begin with. You can put everything into a situation, but you cannot force an illusion to hold together when it starts breaking down. Emily matches those heavy thoughts with her guitar and piano playing, keeping her words plain and direct.

This release comes right after her July debut “Kingdom”, and it shows real growth; you can listen to it here, and I’m pretty sure you will love it. She is good at taking confusing, painful feelings and putting them into plain language that makes sense right away. The song stays with you after it ends.
