Dryadic – “Ghosts”

UK alt-folk band Dryadic just released a new single “Ghosts”, and it’s pretty powerful. It came out on Halloween, which makes sense given the subject matter – Zora, the lead singer, wrote it about dealing with shame and generational trauma.

This is the first time they’ve put piano front and center in a song. Zora learned piano as a kid but only started playing it live recently because she was nervous about it. Good call bringing it in, because it works really well here given how heavy the lyrics are. George plays detuned double bass for extra resonance, and Aly improvised her violin parts in the studio, which gives it this conversational quality.

The recording session sounds intense, apparently everyone ended up crying when they wrapped the final take. When they play it live, audiences have strong reactions too. People come up to Zora after shows to talk about how much it connected with them.

If this sounds like your kind of music, definitely explore more of their catalog. Follow Dryadic on social media so you don’t miss what they release next.
