DownTown Mystic – “Mystic Highway”
DownTown Mystic’s new EP Mystic Highway is a strong collection of tracks that sticks in your head all week. The music comes from players who know their craft, and that gives the whole thing a steady pulse from start to finish.
Steve Holley on drums and Paul Page on bass keep things tight and consistent across the songs. The guitar work really drives everything. Lance Doss adds a gritty, southern touch to a couple tracks, and Justin “JJ” Jordan brings in subtle guitar and mandolin parts that shift the energy without taking it off course. One of the highlights, Read The Signs, has Bruce Engler taking the lead. It lands a bit differently than the others but still fits well.
The last track, Somebody’s Always Doin’ Something 2 Somebody, isn’t just tacked on. With Jeff Levine adding piano, organ, and Moog, it brings in a different layer that adds depth to the whole release. If you’re into rock that’s honest, unpolished in the best way, and focused on strong players doing what they do best, Mystic Highway is worth your time. Check it out, and follow DownTown Mystic on social media so you’re looped in for what they’ve got coming in 2026.
