UCHAYE – “WAR IS OV3R”

Uchaye is a rock artist originally born in Illinois and now based in Minneapolis. Her debut EP, War Is Ov3r, came out just last week. The record has five songs: an interlude named Denial, followed by Denial, Survive, Currency, and Live Wire.

The music pulls heavily from 1980s guitar rock. You can hear direct echoes of David Bowie, The Police, Bruce Springsteen, Joan Jett, and Lenny Kravitz in the heavy riffs and melodies. Uchaye recorded most of this material in her bedroom studio alongside producer Shaun Fleming, focusing on real instruments and raw emotional expression.

Each track follows a specific emotional stage after a breakup. The opening numbers capture manic denial and obsession as the protagonist refuses to accept an ending. Survive shifts the mood toward walking away from toxic memories and taking charge. Currency brings in distorted guitars and ambition as the person chases success and wealth to fill an emptiness. Live Wire closes out the record with blues-rock energy and total freedom, proving she is ready to take over.
