Everything But The Everything – “Hollow Heart”

“Hollow Heart” by Everything But The Everything managed to capture the grand emotional scale of old eighties power ballads, a style that seems almost forgotten today.

Everything starts with a thick, driving bassline laid down by Izzy the Gent. That solid foundation sets the mood immediately. Then Andy Lund steps in with sharp guitar lines while Ian Dowed weaves a rich, cloudy atmosphere around the melody. When the vocals kick in, everything reaches another level. Tobias Hawkins and Sophia Prise share the microphone, trading powerful harmonies that soar high above the instruments. Their voices hold genuine pain and fierce devotion all at once. It’s my favorite track of the week.

Down in San Francisco at the Secret Studio complex, working alongside experienced engineer Rex Shelverton, the band spent extra time building this track. Delays forced them to slow down, allowing them to add layer upon layer until every single second clicked into place. Even guest drummer Cody Rhodes brought his years of experience to the room, shaping the rhythm section so it hits with absolute precision.

You can already tell how well this song connects in person with fans in the room. When played out live, crowds loved it so much they demanded it move to the very end of the set. It leaves a lasting impression that lingers long after the final chord fades out.

Exploring their older catalog reveals plenty of hidden gems that show how much this talented group has grown over the years, and every single project they put out builds upon their unique collective abilities, offering something genuinely worthwhile for anyone who appreciates great musicianship.

Do yourself a favor and dive into their past albums whenever you have some free time on your hands. Make sure to follow Everything But The Everything to stay updated about new releases for the rest of this year. You will definitely want to hear whatever they create next as soon as it arrives on your favorite streaming platforms and local music stores today.
