Ross Atlan – “I Can Feel Your Hands”

“I Can Feel Your Hands” is the first single from Ross Atlan. It gives you a warm feeling right away that makes you want to sit back and listen closely. Ross grew up in Iowa surrounded by classic Motown and soul records, and he started out as a drummer early on. He spent years playing in bands and doing live shows in the Minneapolis grunge scene before going back to his home state to focus on writing his own songs. He recorded this track out at Windview Studio in the Iowa countryside, and he also recorded some parts over in Europe. Being outdoors in the fresh air and sunshine really helped shape the mood. It’s my favorite track of the month so far.

The story behind the song comes from a group meditation outside where a person was healed from a long physical illness. Ross worked on the track with producer Patrick Woerner, who plays several instruments and helped give the song a smooth, fresh feel. They built the vocal parts and the main hook together while working in the room, and everything came together in a natural way.

The artwork on the cover fits the music really well, too. It has a painting of a bright sun with big orange, red, and yellow rays stretching out. Hands are reaching up through clouds to hold the sun, which gives off a feeling of comfort and warmth before you even play the track.

Ross Atlan did a great job combining his old soul influences with a clear, honest sound. The vocals sound personal, and the rhythm feels natural from start to finish. It leaves you with a happy, peaceful feeling that stays with you after the music stops.
