CRYSOFTLY – “PROMISES”

Vancouver based artist CRYSOFTLY brings a fresh perspective with “PROMISES”. The six track project carries an impressive balance of melodic rap blended with jersey club and sexy drill rhythms. Recording and mixing everything independently in a bedroom setting gives the whole release an authentic, intimate character. Production duties are split right down the middle, with This is AL crafting the first half and JOHANMOBU taking over the second half.

The opening track “PROMISES” quickly sets the tone with moody atmospheric textures colliding against hard hitting club rhythms. It quickly became my personal favorite on the entire project. The energy keeps rolling smoothly into “TRIPPIN”, where bouncy flows seamlessly build upon the foundation laid out in the beginning. By the time “ALWAYS SOMETHING” plays, the catchy hooks and sleek vocal melodies settle into a super comfortable groove that feels tailor made for late night drives.

“ARE YOU DOWN?” shifts into deeper territory with booming low end and compelling vocal energy. Then comes “MISSIONARY”, a song that combines energetic bounces with honest vocal lines that hit directly. Closing out the experience, “WOULD YOU LEAVE ME?” wraps things up on an emotional note, leaving a lasting impression with its raw delivery and atmospheric soundscapes and it’s safe to say it’s one of the unique releases I’ve covered in the last couple of days.

I love this EP from start to finish. The balance between heavy club bounces and honest emotional expression makes the entire six track run feel incredibly engaging.
