Sid Aili – “HIYER”

Just a couple of days ago, I discovered a fresh hip hop track out of Melbourne that completely caught my full attention from the first second. The single is titled “HIYER” by Sid Aili, a 24-year-old independent maker who handles every single part of his music right from his bedroom. He literally recorded this entire track inside his wardrobe, which gives the whole project a genuinely authentic, grounded quality that you rarely hear in commercial music. It’s safe to say it’s one of the most interesting tracks I’ve discovered this month so far.

The song uses a brilliant sample of “No Stranger to Darkness” by Loose Ends, creating an incredibly smooth and infectious vibe. Sid Aili is a talented artist and he uses this groove to look back at his life, putting his own distinct Australian voice out there as he talks about his personal journey and compares his past to where he stands now. Sid Aili deserves your full attention.

To be honest with you guys, I really enjoy the honest and rich storytelling here. Knowing he mixed, mastered, and produced everything alone in a small space makes the depth of the track even more impressive. It shows an artist sticking to a serious DIY work ethic and a clear philosophy of never giving up. My personal opinion is that the raw sincerity makes it a deeply rewarding listen.
