Nadine Abs – “Caesar”
“Caesar” by Nadine Abs is my new favorite track and I am genuinely struck by how much heart is packed into it. It is a pop ballad, but it completely avoids the standard formula you usually hear on the radio. The track has a gorgeous blend of classical instrumentation and pop elements that make it incredibly memorable.
The history behind the song is fascinating. Nadine wrote this as a direct tribute to her late headmaster and math teacher from Rawdah High School back in Beirut, Lebanon. His Arabic name translates to Caesar. He was a great man who built a life from nothing after moving from the Holy Land, and he spent his days telling his students to go after their dreams. His main piece of advice was always, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.” He even wanted to pay for her music tuition when she moved to London, England, but he passed away shortly after. Years later, Nadine had a vivid dream where he told her to write a song about him, so she went and did exactly that. “Caesar” is one of the most impressive records I’ve heard in weeks, from the vocals to the well-written lyrics, everything is perfect.
To honor his love for classical compositions, the talented artist Nadine recorded this at AudioHaus, a boutique studio in Notting Hill known for its strong sound. Johnny Zanchetta composed a beautiful melody, and the musicianship is fantastic. Will Clemens plays the piano beautifully, and Izzy Howard adds some incredible violin work. Clemens co-produced the song alongside sound engineer Jay Jacobs, creating a balanced sound that highlights the emotion without overwhelming it. You can hear the absolute joy in her vocals.
This track succeeds because it is completely honest. It is a beautiful way to honor an educator who changed so many lives. I highly recommend that you check out the previous releases from Nadine Abs to see her full artistic range. You should definitely follow Nadine Abs to stay updated about new releases during the rest of this year.
