Hollow Shift – “WAR”
I’ve been keeping an eye on the Athens duo Hollow Shift, and their trajectory is getting really interesting. After putting out “Hades” and “Without Darkness Souls Won’t Move”, two singles that did a great job blending dark electronic pulses with heavy atmosphere, their three-track single, “WAR”, is finally out.
If those first two tracks were about setting a moody, late-night vibe, this new release feels like a natural step into something much bigger. Jessica Bell and Alexander Zamparas are pulling from darkwave and post-punk, but the scope here feels cinematic. The music captures the realities of a messy, divided world, balancing the heavy toll of conflict with a real sense of human resilience.
The title track hits with massive production and haunting melodies that stick with you. It has this great contrast between shadowy textures and an underlying drive that keeps you hooked. Instead of feeling entirely bleak, the music carries a stubborn kind of hope through the noise. It works just as well for a dark dance floor as it does for solitary listening. They are genuinely refining their sound with this release, carving out a specific space in the alternative electronic scene.
“WAR” is available to stream right now. Definitely head over to their social media pages to follow them so you can stay updated on new music and see what else they have coming next this year.
