Becca Stefanson – “How I Feel”

Becca Stefanson is a 17-year-old singer-songwriter from Pitt Meadows, BC. Her new single “How I Feel” came out April 9th alongside her debut EP, Going Forward, Looking Back, and for a first full project, she makes a strong impression.

The song is a folk-country ballad, quiet and unhurried, and Becca wrote it as her first attempt at fingerpicking, and you can tell how talented she is. The track puts lyrical detail at the front, which works in her favor because the writing is where she clearly focused her energy. It’s about longing for a connection that’s slipped out of reach, drawn from heartbreak stories she’s heard from others and from imagining herself in those situations.

Her influences stretch from The Beatles and Stevie Nicks to Clairo and Gracie Abrams, and you can hear that wide range in how she approaches the songwriting. She’s not mimicking any one of them. The entire EP, all six tracks, was recorded, produced, and mixed by her father, Todd Stefanson, which gives the project a personal quality that many debut releases don’t have.

For someone who has been performing since age nine, she sounds composed and sure of herself. “How I Feel” is a solid starting point for anyone who hasn’t heard her yet. Give her a follow on social media to stay up to date on whatever she releases next in 2026.
