dreamscent – “Burning Days”

Dreamscent is a band out of Raleigh, North Carolina, and their debut album Burning Days is my first time hearing them. After a couple listens, it stuck with me more than I expected.

The sound sits somewhere between indie rock and that hazy, washed-out style you hear in shoegaze, but it doesn’t feel stuck in one place. There are moments where everything drifts a bit, then suddenly it pulls you into something more direct and grounded. That push and pull kept me interested the whole time.

I liked how the album doesn’t try to do too much at once. It stays focused, but still gives you different moods to sit with. Some parts feel more distant and layered, while others hit a little more head-on. It makes the whole thing feel natural, like it’s unfolding instead of trying to impress you.

There’s also an underlying emotional thread that comes through without being over-explained. You can sense themes of reflection and working through things, but it’s subtle enough that you can take your own meaning from it. That made it easier to come back to.

For a first full album, it sounds like a band that already knows what they want to explore, but isn’t boxed in yet. That’s always a good sign. If you want to keep up with what Dreamscent does next, I’d definitely recommend following them on social media this year to catch new releases and updates.
