The Wheel Workers – “Live From The Attic”

“Live From The Attic” by The Wheel Workers has that loose, you can tell right away this wasn’t polished to death. It sounds like a band playing together in a space they actually know, which in this case is literally their attic.

“Fine Time” kicks things off with a rough edge that sticks. The guitar work grinds a bit before opening up, and the attitude carries the song, and “Smokescreen” drifts into something more hypnotic, with a groove that pulls you in without trying too hard. It’s probably the track I kept replaying the most.

“Rainbows” is a shift, brighter and more direct. The hook is easy to latch onto, and the message lands clearly without feeling forced. “Desire” stretches out more, building slowly and giving the band space to breathe, and that middle section with the softer arrangement really stands out. Closing track “Day After Day” wraps things up on a hopeful note, and to be honest, it’s my favorite.

The artwork fits the whole thing nicely. Warm lighting, a drum kit sitting in that dim attic space, it matches the sound perfectly. I like this EP more the longer I sit with it because it just feels honest, definitely go check out their earlier releases on Spotify, and see how they got here. And yeah, follow The Wheel Workers if you’re into this kind of thing. Have you heard a live EP lately that actually sounds this real?
