Jacob Rountree – “Grace”
Jacob Rountree, a Bozeman‑based multi‑instrumentalist, is set to release his single “Grace” on March 3. Jacob wrote this song ten years ago and has held it close, carefully handling every part of its creation, from writing and performing to recording, mixing and mastering. Jacob blended folk and electronic dance influences, this is what makes his music unique and rich.
It’s personal and meaningful. The song delves into loss, healing and the enduring power of love. Inspired by personal experiences with grief, including the deaths of cousins, grandparents and aunts at a young age, he reflects on family gatherings where saying grace shifted from sorrowful to celebratory. In his home studio, he recorded every instrument himself, drums, guitars, vocals and even electronic textures. He has spent the last decade building this studio and honing his skills, even debuting unplugged sets at Folk Alliance International. Bandmate Zach McKinley added final guitar textures, but the song remains largely a solo vision.
“Grace” is the first single from his forthcoming fourth album, following the hometown‑lauded “Truth or Dare”. Rountree plans to tour Idaho, Sun Valley, Boise, Seattle, Portland, Denver and Salt Lake. This release marks a turning point for him, pairing heartfelt storytelling with innovative production.
